Nicole Cooke has been asked to appear before the Culture, Media and Sport (CMS) Committee's investigation into potential wrongdoing in cycling and will do so by video link on Tuesday 24th January.
The panel of MPs has already questioned Sir Dave Brailsford and Shane Sutton about practices at British Cycling, and particularly about the now famous Jiffy bag that was delivered to Sir Bradley Wiggins during the 2011 Criterium du Dauphine.
Cooke is outspoken about the preferential treatment given to men's sport over women's and doping in cycling. Upon retiring she became all the more outspoken and took aim at the toxic culture around the men's peloton.
'Tyler Hamilton will make more money from his book describing how he cheated than I will make in all my years of honest labour,' she stated in her first interview after retiring in 2013.
Following the session of the CMS in December, Cooke wrote in the Guardian that the information given by Brailsford and Sutton 'raised even more questions than we had before'.
In the same article, the former World Champion goes on to question why the then women's team manager, Simon Cope, was employed 'in the role of a basic courier' to transport the Jiffy bag to France while the women's squad struggled to secure a training camp.
She goes on to state that it was Sutton who turned down the training camp.
Cooke's appearance will make for interesting viewing, and should balance the evidence the panel of MPs has so far received, but could be uncomfortable listening for British Cycling.
