
The wildcard teams that will race the 2017 Tour de France have been announced. Direct Energie, Cofidis, Fortuneo-Vital Concept and Wanty-Groupe Gobert will compete alongside the 18 WorldTour teams at the French Grand Tour.
French fans are likely to be happy. The selection has a strong gallic theme with three of the wildcard teams coming from the host nation. Belgian squad Wanty takes the final team place.
The race begins with the Grand Départ in Dusseldorf, Germany on Saturday 1st July.
