Alberto Contador's bike will show illustrations to signify his Grand Tour successes

Alberto Contador is set to start his season at the Vuelta a Andalucía, his first race in Trek-Segafredo colours. This could be the Spanish rider's final season and he his pinning all his hopes on one last Tour de France victory.

To celebrate his previous Grand Tour wins (officially seven), Contador will ride a custom painted Trek Émonda for his first race in 2017.

Those seven wins came across all three Grand Tours and over a nine-season span. He won the Tour de France in 2007 and 2009, the Giro d'Italia in 2008 and 2015, and the Vuelta a Espana in 2008, 2012, 2014.

Contador also stood on the top step of the final podium at the 2010 Tour and 2011 Giro, but these results were voided by a doping ban.

The 34-year-old maintains his innocence, and crossed the line on the final stage of the 2015 Giro with three fingers raised in the air to show he still counts it as his third overall victory in the Italian Grand Tour.

The new bike also pays homage to Contador's home city of Pinto and carries his life motto 'querer es poder' ('where there's a will, there's a way').

As long as his legs allow you can count on Contador to attack, so if he arrives at the 2017 Tour de France in top form his presence should enliven a race that has slightly lacked a bit of flair in recent years.

Whether he can win, however, is far less certain. But where there's a will...
