The teams for the 2018 Tour of Flanders have been confirmed with 24 squads making the cut for the cobbled classic on Sunday 1st April. The race will be dominated by strong Dutch and Italian contingents who will boast four and five teams respectively.
As expected, defending champions Team Sunweb will headline the race, looking to guide young American Coryn Rivera to her second Flanders title.
Rivera managed to outsprint Australian Gracie Elvin who will look to go one better this year with her Mitchelton-Scott team. The Australian team will also have former race winner Annemiek Van Vlueten among their options
Eyes will be placed upon Boels-Dolmans, who will include former race winner Lizzie Deignan. The Dutch team has been largely dominant in the one-day classics over previous years and will look to continue their dominance.
Beyond Deignan, British hopes will lie with the Barnes sister, both of whom ride on the Canyon-SRAM team. Hannah Barnes managed to finish a respectable 19th in her race debut.
British registered team Trek-Drops have also earned a place in the race for the third consecutive year.
The 2018 Ladies Tour of Flanders will take place on Sunday 1st April, before the men's race. Details of the women's course are yet to be revealed.
