Laura Kenny will make her return to racing at the UCI Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands on 28th February as Dan Bigham and Charlie Tanfield earn call up to the men's endurance team.
Four-time Olympic gold medallist Kenny will make her first racing appearance since giving birth to her son Albert last August. She will be joined by husband Jason Kenny who has also been selected as part of the men's sprint team.
Despite being out of competition for six months, Laura Kenny will be looking to add to her collection of seven world titles.
'Every time the team line up for a race we want to win and the worlds will be no different, but I’m not putting too much pressure on myself in Apeldoorn,' Kenny told British Cycling.
'I’m interested to see how the team pursuit get on with racing against the world’s best again. It is all made even sweeter by being on the track where I won my first elite world title too.'
Kenny will be among seven Olympic gold medalists representing British Cycling at the Worlds with Ed Clancy, Callum Skinner and Katie Archibald also in attendance.
Beyond the hoard of Olympians, British Cycling has taken a unconventional route with its men's endurance team picking two non-programme riders in Dan Bigham and Charlie Tanfield.
Both rode for the independent KGF team at the track World Cup in Minsk taking victory in the team pursuit. Tanfield then preceded to set the fourth fastest time ever in the individual pursuit.
Selection outside of the performance programme is a rarity but performance director Stephen Park hopes this could spur more riders from outside of the programme to stake their claim for selection.
'Dan and Charlie have made their mark on the track cycling scene this season and what they have achieved is commendable,' he said.
'I hope their efforts encourage others outside the centralised British Cycling system to follow their example.
'They are currently on a training camp in Mallorca with the men’s endurance squad and it’s a really exciting time for us to have an expanded pool of talent to select from.'
