The 2018 British National Road Race Championships will be heading to the northern county of Northumberland between the 28th June and 1st July.
The championships will coincide with the Cyclone Festival of Cycling which will host the Tyne 6 Bridges fun rides on the Friday and the 3,000 rider Cyclone Challenge Sportives on the Saturday.
The first events of the championships will take place on Thursday 28th June with the individual time trials including the men's and women's elite races. The weekend will conclude with the individual road races on Sunday 1st July.
Both the men's and women's races will incorporate some of the local racing roads that are used yearly in the Beaumont Trophy and Curlew Cup races.
British Cycling's director of cycling Jonny Clay spoke of his excitement to run the championships alongside an event for amateur riders.
'We are thrilled to be heading to the north east for the biggest date in the British road racing calendar,' said Clay.
'There is a great passion for cycling with thousands of people turning out to watch whenever there are cycling races in the area and it should be a fantastic weekend and showcase of everything that is great about the region.
'Hosted in partnership with the Cyclone Festival of Cycling, there is something for all fans of cycling, whether you want to watch the racing or take part in a sportive.'
Steve Cummings will look to defend both the time trial and road titles after winning an impressive double on the Isle of Man in 2017.
In the women's race, all eyes will be on Lizzie Deignan and whether she can secure a fifth road title.
The only national road race events that will not be held over this weekend are the junior race which will be held at Witham Hill in Stafford, Lincolnshire on Sunday 15th July.
