UK based professional women's cycling team Trek-Drops will continue to offer its entire roster a wage thanks to the continued support of recycling programme 'Every Can Counts'.
The programme managed by the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro) will continue its investment with Trek-Drops for a second season, meaning it remains one of the few teams worldwide that pays each of it riders a wage.
The programme's investment in Trek-Drops comes due to witnessing the sport women's cycling becoming an 'emerging market' which shares 'similar values' to that of the recycling project.
The 'Every Can Counts' programme hopes to continue the development of the sport through helping towards wages and will support the team in races competed in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Spain.
Working with the project, Trek-Drops will also aid its efforts by encouraging the recycling of aluminium cans - an act that can be as effective in protecting the environment as swapping your car for a bike.
Speaking on this partnership, Trek-Drops team director Tom Varney spoke of his delight to partner with Alupro for another year.
'This additional support via the Every Can Counts programme is a huge benefit to the team and will help us progress further this year,' said Varney.
'The riders and staff will be helping to encourage cyclists across Europe to do their bit to protect our environment by recycling their drinks cans – making every can count!
