Paris-Roubaix, the best race on the calendar, is just a few short weeks away and already excitement is building. Ahead of the race, which takes place on Sunday 8th April, the organiser has released a short video dedicated to the four times Tom Boonen crossed the line first in the velodrome.
This year will be the first edition of the race since his retirement. As well as his four wins - 2005, 2008, 2009, 2012 - the Belgian finished on the podium a further three times.
When he finished third in 2002, the day's winner Johan Museeuw predicted great things for Boonen saying that he was Museeuw's successor in the Classics, and was proved correct.
However, when asked to name his own successor from the ranks of young Belgian riders, Boonen refused so as to not put undue pressure on a developing rider.
The first Monument of the season is this weekend's Milan-San Remo, followed later this month by the Tour of Flanders.
