Charlie Tanfield's tilt at the U23 World Championships Time Trial began in a less than ideal manner when he was late to the start ramp.
It's unclear why he wasn't in situ, but the UCI's video above shows the rider running up the steps and across the launch platform to his bike, with his race time already ticking by.
Those on the ramp look bemused about the presence of a bike with no rider, and then watch as the rider jogs to his bike and pushes off.
Tanfield then loses more time clipping in before getting up to speed and away.
Defending champion Mikkel Bjerg was the day's winner, with Tanfield coming in 1:32 down in 27th place.
Charlie is U23 British National Champion against the clock while his older brother Harry is the Senior National Champion.
However, representing Britain in the senior event later this week are Alex Dowsett and Tao Geoghegan Hart.
Although both are WorldTour riders and accomplished against the clock, a podium finish is unlikely as riders such as defending champion Tom Dumoulin and Grand Tour stage winner Rohan Dennis look set to battle for the win, with others like Team Sky duo Michal Kwiatkowski and Jonathan Castroviejo outside bets.
