German direct-to-market giant Canyon has revamped its Aeroad range for 2019 including a new entry-level model that introduces Shimano 105 to the aerodynamic road bike.
The new range will be branded under the Canyon Aeroad CF SL banner and will consist of nine new bikes. It will sit underneath the Aeroad CF SLX models, which continue as Canyon's top-of-the-range options.
Despite being second-tier, Canyon argues that 'the Aeroad CF SL bikes feature the same watt-saving tube shapes and race-ready design as our flagship Aeroad CF SLX frames, just with slight changes in their stiffness to weight ratios.'

Across the new nine bikes, punters will have the option of either rim or disc brakes, which is against the grain of some of Canyon's competitors who have decided to phase out rim brakes on some models.
The most eye-catching addition to the range is the introduction of the Aeroad CF SL 7.0 and WMN CF SL 7.0 which will sit as entry-level options.
They will be fitted with the new Shimano 105 R7000 groupset in an attempt to produce 'a race winning set up more attainable than ever'.
The bike will also be built with Reynolds AR 58 C wheels in either silver or stealth black, costing £2,449 retail; £750 less than last year's most affordable option.
The top-end of the new SL range will be the Aeroad CF SL Disc 8.0 Di2 and Aeroad WMN CL SL Disc 8.0 Di2. Both will be fitted with full Shimano Ultegra electronic gearing, DT Swiss ARC 1400 wheels and be available in rim and disc brakes.
Fans of Alejandro Valverde and Movistar will be happy to hear that this bike also comes in the blue fade colourway of Movistar as well as its usual stealth black.

This Movistar colour scheme has also been introduced to the Ultimate range while the Endurace has also received some new colours and specs.
Most notably, the Ultimate CF SL rim brake has borrowed the same frame design as the equivalent disc bike version which is said to offer 'improved ride compliance and optimised aerodynamics versus the previous platform.'
Canyon product manager, Julian Bifang, made comment on the new Aeroad models and how it offers no compromise to its more established siblings.
'The Aeroad CF SL shares the Trident 2.0 tubing design developed on the Aeroad CF SLX, and sets out to provide the same wind cheating chassis combined with the finest handling.'
