The British road champion gets a custom-painted Genesis Zero SL Disc to race this year

At the 2019 edition of its iceBike trade show, Madison displayed Connor Swift’s new Genesis Zero SL Disc bike, which has been custom-painted to commemorate his national championship win towards the middle of the road season last year.

The 23-year-old rider was presented with a rim-brake version just after his win but he now has the option to ride on disc brakes as well. Both bikes are one-off creations that have been custom-painted by Bristol-based Rob Nicholas of ColourBurn Studios.

ColourBurn Studios has a significant pedigree in the realms of custom designs, having painted bikes for Astana’s Miguel Angel Lopez and Jakob Fuglsang.

‘Obviously I could have gone for the same design as my original, however, having Rob at ColourBurn Studios remake the original wouldn't have been as fun. The great thing about Rob is that you can let him loose and he comes up with fresh designs that are just as cool and amazing as the first time around,’ said Swift.

The new design continues the red, white and blue theme of the first bike but the main triangle of the frame is finished in a subtle speckled effect, as opposed to the Jackson Pollock-like paint splatter effect of the rim brake bike.

The design of the bike’s rear end and fork legs are more overt, adopting a ‘snow camo’ pattern of geometric shapes. The rim-brake bike was characterised by personal touches and nods to Swift’s win and heritage, and the disc-brake bike is no different.

The date of Swift’s national road race victory is detailed on toptube and a Yorkshire Rose - the symbol of Swift's home country - decorates the bottom of the down tube.
