Action cameras are gaining in popularity all the time, with the benefits of action capture appealing to ever-more people, from those looking to record 'epic' scenes from their ride, to those looking for safety by way of having their commute 'on camera'.
Giant of the sector, GoPro, has just launched a host of new products that will take the recording and sharing capabilities of camera users up to new levels, with the release of the Hero5 and Hero5 Session cameras, its Karma drone, and GoPro Plus software.
New on the Hero5 is a 2-inch touch display and a video resolution of 4k at 30 frames per second as well as the ability to capture 12 megapixel photos. The unit is waterproof up to 10 metres without the need for extra housing, too. The Hero5 Session shares the same video capabilities, while only managing 10MP photos, but is housed in a much smaller unit.
The Karma meanwhile marks GoPro's launch into the increasingly popular drone market, with a detachable mount that enables the camera to be attached to the Karma Grip (selfie stick to you and me) and switched between the two accordingly.
In an increasingly fast-paced and digital age, it makes sense that GoPro has ploughed investment into the software and 'sharability' behind the cameras as well, and as such the GoPro Plus software immediately uploads data to a cloud-based subscription service that has editing, storage and sharing capabilities. GoPro Plus costs $4.99 a month and also gives the user access to music and soundtracks for their videos, as well as discount on other GoPro products.
GoPro Hero5 $399, GoPro Hero5 Session $299, GoPro Karma from $799.
